Curious about seeing some of the waves in Ireland and don't mind some strange illustration thrown in the mix? After a few months hiatus I've begun posting again the website and facebook page...

The lino printing is really enjoyable - something visceral about carving into the leathery 'flesh' of the block. I tried to capture the bowl section of of a wave near Aileens in County Clare about a year ago. Raffled off a free print to anyone who guess was nearest to the weight of the shaving from the carving - good fun.
Sussed the link - there's a lot in the archives I've not seen being a new member. Awesome work, you've a great style. Have you a site where this is gathered together? And did you manage to get your show together?

Thanks! No site at present and show still not happened, the usual life/work/parenthood things! It will happen though it has to!

Yeah I reay enjoy the removal process after years of adding. Bit like shaping, revealing the hidden within. Love all the variation and the fact that every print is different. Satisfies my brain!

Great idea for a competition I bet not many people know the weight of lino shavings! Will keep tabs on your work, I'll post some prints up when I get a minute.

Deadly. I'd like to see more of the illustration and printmaking.
If you've interest in getting a site up for your work I might be able to help. Let me know. Barter can be fun.

Cheers for the offer, appreciated! I've built various sites over the years but my main issue is narrowing down my work in to its various parts and getting it all in order. Its happening slowly but as I produce more I end up questioning the validity of older pieces. Closer now than have been so you never know it might just happen this time!

I hear you there. I'd given up on the OD a couple of times for similar reasons; identity crisis - what was it supposed to be about? At the moment I'm resigned to it existing as an online repository for written & illustrative work - it's personal but I don't mind it being a window folks can peer through if they're curious. The more serious I got in choosing what to show and what not to and investing time getting 'socialised' the less I enjoyed it whereas the reverse became more enjoyable; devolving from that track felt better and more rewarding. Perhaps if I had been intent on going commercial I should pull its socks up a bit but fcuk it. As-is it's a space for, at best, exorcism, at worst, narcissism - surely wobbling both ways.

The logical and correct approach for sure!

I work full time in graphic design so really my personal work is now self therapy to relieve my brain of sh1te and a weeks worth of creative semi frustration while delivering commercial projects. Had a working gallery/ studio a few years back with friends but since responsibility came to being I've not really put anything else out to an audience.

I think the organic approach makes most sense, dribble it out as and when it dribbles out [wink]

That latter statement sums up my approach to love making.

If you're curious about what was happening in the far west on Wednesday, check the OD blog. Enjoy.
